My Most Life Changing Non-Fiction Reads
One of my absolute favorite places to be is reading a book. A book comes with me everywhere-in the car, in a waiting room, to the beach, to the coffee shop, etc. Chatting books is a really enjoyable past time of mine, which is why I created the quarterly book club. In 2025 we read four fantastic non-fiction books: The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalantithi, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Kimmerer and Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. In this space we share, discuss, listen, learn, agree, disagree and hold an energy of non-judgement. If you like to read and you’re a client or friend of mine, I’m sure we have chatted books at some point.
My current top 5 favorite non-fiction reads that have helped me profoundly on my healing journey.
Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Tawwab: “Boundaries are not walls. A wall keeps people out, while boundaries show people how to exist in a relationship with you.” This book is listed first for a reason. This is the book that introduced me to boundaries (What even is a boundary? How is it helpful? How do you set them?), saying no, protecting my peace, establishing my values, using the block/unfollow/unfriend button, the beauty of being clear and direct and SO much more.
Atomic Habits by James Clear: "Making a choice that is 1 percent better or 1 percent worse seems insignificant in the moment, but over the span of moments that make up a lifetime these choices determine the difference between who you are and who you could be. Success is the product of daily habits—not once-in-a-lifetime transformations."This book invited me to use more discernment with even the “smallest” tasks. Ex: I want to spend more time outside-Solution: Intentionally park far away from the building. Ex: I don’t want to think about my phone while I’m out to eat at a restaurant. Solution: Leave the phone at home. Ex: I don’t want to start doomscrolling while I’m in bed. Solution: Set a boundary where I do not allow myself to have my phone in my hand while I’m sitting or laying on my bed.
The Five Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom“What am I avoiding because of fear? The thing you fear the most is often the thing you most need to do.” I cannot recommend this book enough. This book taught me to be more brave, take more risks, and be more organized to create space for miracles.
The Wealth Money Can’t Buy by Robin Sharma: “The feeling of enough. Beautiful. To know the fulfillment of being satisfied with what you have makes you wealthy.” Robin shares 8 forms of wealth: Growth, Wellness, Family, Craft, Money, Community, Adventure, Service.
The 5AM Club by Robin Sharma: “All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.” This book has a very special place in my heart. It is a blend between a heart-warming story and an educational book with so many helpful tips on establishing a morning routine, having a growth mindset and getting to know oneself.
Each of these books are remarkable, unique and special in their own way. 💓
Additionally, I have learned SO much from Dr. Joe Dispenza, Elizabeth Gilbert, Brad Stulberg, Arthur Brooks, Oliver Burkeman, and many many others.
